The "Prodromos" olive got its name from the monastery of Timios Prodromos in Imathia.

The production shows small fluctuations, due to the phenomenon of biennial bearing, however with appropriate pruning and irrigation, the phenomenon is reduced. It has quite high yields and offers high quality fruit as well as oil.

It also shows high resistance to verticillium (Verticillium Dahliae), frost and drought.
